Private support to the College of Charleston’s Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture is vital for the Avery Research Center to carry out its mission to collect, preserve, and make public the unique historical and cultural heritage of Charleston, Lowcountry, and South Carolina African Americans. The Avery Research Center uses the funds raised to acquire rare books, manuscripts, and artifacts, secure top-notch lecturers and speakers, curate thought-provoking exhibitions, and provide workshops to better serve the community.
