The Show Must Go On

For decades, the Department of Theatre and Dance has been at the center of bringing quality performances to the Charleston community and providing invaluable training to our students to prepare them for their career in the arts. Each year I am excited to share our season schedule with you, but, as you know, this is not a typical year, nor are we having a typical season. As we have embarked upon this new terrain of streaming performances and virtual platform fees, we have lost essential revenue that plays a huge role in funding our full season productions: ticket sales.

Today, to preserve the student experience, we are asking you to make a tax-deductible contribution in the amount that you would typically spend on tickets, season subscriptions and/or your usual donation. Your support will continue to fund the essentials needed to produce quality performances like set construction, lighting, sound and costumes. Most importantly, a donation now will ensure that we are able to produce our 2021-2022 season.

Our planning for future productions is still evolving, but we will get there - together - one step at a time, sharing an even tighter bond when we emerge on the other side. I am so grateful that you are a part of our arts community and look forward to the days when we can gather together again in the theatre in support of our students.

Yours sincerely,
sig
Janine McCabe, Chair
