Old is New Again
2024-2025 Season

With great excitement we begin our season this year back in our renovated Simons Center for the Arts! For decades, the Department of Theatre and Dance has been proud to deliver quality performances to the Charleston community as part of the Artistic Heartbeat of Charleston, while also providing invaluable training for our students to prepare them for careers in the arts. Our sense of community is re-invigorated after years of adaptation as CofC Stages and the Department are back in one centralized location. We continue to embrace flexibility and growth as we work to enhance the student experience and search for new pathways to provide the revenue needed to fund productions, artists, and opportunities that will allow our students to thrive while here and prepare them for what comes next.

CofC Stages has constructed the 2024-2025 season around the theme “Old is New Again,” featuring eight exciting productions that explore past works, different approaches, and new and old stories, artists, and spaces. The department is eager to reclaim its home in the Simons Center for the Arts, which now houses our new state-of-the art Black Box Theatre and other renovated facilities.

The student focused season also highlights guest artists, faculty members, and exciting collaborations, including one with the MOJA Arts Festival, through staged readings, plays, dance, musical theatre, and even a brand-new episodic podcast!

While we are beyond grateful for all we have in our renovated building, we still need your help to support our students and our season in achieving excellence as produce quality performances in a unique experiential learning environment. Your donations contribute to funding the essentials needed for scenery, lighting, sound, and costumes, but more importantly, they help fund student employees, student research and travel, and other student-centered experiences. Your contributions make a meaningful and necessary impact on our success.

We are grateful for your commitment to us. We can’t do this without your generosity!
