Lucia Johnson Vest '47 & Edward Vest

Vikki Bernotski ‘12 is one of seven Johnson-Vest scholars in 2012.

Lucia “Lou” Johnson Vest ’47 and Edward Nelson Vest established an endowed scholarship 14 years ago to honor Lou’s parents, Irene Ebert Johnson and George Arthur Ziozias Johnson, who instilled a love of the Latin and Greek languages in their children.

The Johnson-Vest scholars at the College are Classics majors of exceptional talent, performance and promise.

“Latin and other classical languages are critical in building an educational foundation for life.” — Lucia “Lou” Johnson Vest ‘47

The Vests will enhance their scholarship fund with a gift from their estate. When you create an estate gift to the College of Charleston, you integrate your personal ideals with your love of the College. Creating better futures for generations to come – that’s your legacy.
