Gifts to the College of Charleston have affected many people as alumni, friends, faculty and staff and parents. We encourage you to share the story of how making a gift or being the beneficiary of a gift to the College has impacted your life. Thank you.

  •    Be personal. Speak in the first person. Share what's natural to you and be yourself.
  •    Be specific. Talk about why you chose to support the College or a specific school or department in particular.
  •    Use photos. Do you have a photo with a scholarship recipient? Or you on campus from days gone by? Send it to us.

69 Years Later, Scholarship Carries on Professor’s Love of Learning

Patricia Hughes Farrow ’48 and her husband, Thomas Ferguson Farrow ’49 (the two met while at CofC) established the Horatio Hughes Memorial Scholarship in 2011 through a charitable trust that began funding scholarships after both had passed away. The trust funds scholarships for 10-15 science students a year, along with a handful of research stipends. Read story »

At the College of Charleston, the Mulvaney Family has made a vested commitment to furthering the education field by way of their philanthropy. GEL Laboratories Funds Scholarship for Chemistry Students

GEL Laboratories LLC has established the GEL Laboratories Scholarship in Chemistry, an annual, non-endowed scholarship at the College of Charleston. Designed to bolster the number of chemistry graduates at the College, the scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen and sophomores who plan to pursue a chemistry degree. Read story »
